Research fellowship: BM/d (TU/e)
Between March and May 2026, Iulia-Alexandra ORVAS, a 2nd year student in the BIOSINF Master’s programme, worked as a visiting Master’s student at the Biomedical Diagnostics (BM/d) Research Laboratory, Department of Electrical Engineering, Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), The Netherlands. During the visit, she continued her Master’s thesis research in collaboration with the BM/d research group. The project focused on developing an artificial intelligence pipeline for fetal electrocardiogram (fECG) extraction from non-invasive abdominal ECG recordings and fetal movement classification, combining deep learning with biomedical signal processing techniques for fetal health assessment. The close collaboration with the BM/d team and their expertise in biomedical signal processing played an important role in shaping the proposed pipeline and contributed significantly to the final outcome of the project.
